Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning to take Sushant Singh Rajput in four of his films, confirms Mumbai Police

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was recently questioned by the Mumbai Police in regards to Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide. The actor left for his heavenly abode on June 14. And after that, people related to the late actor have been recording their statements at the Bandra Police Station. Like many others, SLB recorded his statement and apparently revealed that he was planning to cast Sushant in four of his films. However, things did not materialise for them as planned.

Days after SLB recorded his statement, Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP (Zone IX), Mumbai Police, has confirmed this development. In an interview with a news agency, the DCP also mentioned why SLB and Sushant couldn't work on those four films.

"Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning to take Sushant in four of his films. But due to unavailability of dates, the films had other actors," he revealed to ANI. He further mentioned that the police have taken into custody CCTV recordings of the building where Sushant resided in Bandra.

However, he stated that no CCTV's were found in the actor's house and forensic reports are awaited. "Mumbai Police is investigating into all important details about this case. Mumbai Police is awaiting a response from nodal of Twitter, about the alleged tweets circulated on social media from SSR handle," the DCP added.

Talking about Sushant, the actor had slipped into depression and was suffering from it for the last six months. He decided to end his life on June 14 and was found dead at his Bandra residence. The actor left no suicide note behind and the reason why he took such a drastic step is not known to anyone.

On the work front, he will be last seen in Mukesh Chhabra's Dil Bechara with Sanjana Sanghi. The film is all set for an OTT release on July 24.

Breathe - Into the Shadows Review: Here is our review of Abhishek Bachchan, Amit Sadh starrer Breathe

Breathe season 1 was one of the first web series to come out of India and it was equal parts engaging and thrilling with outstanding performances from both R Madhavan and Amit Sadh. I was eagerly looking forward to the second season of the show, especially after it was announced that Abhishek Bachchan will be joining the show with Amit Sadh returning as no-nonsense cop Kabir Sawant.

After watching the first four episodes of the second season, I can say for a fact that Breathe season 2 titled Breathe - Into the Shadows is worth your time and a worthy successor to the previous season. The show is about a couple Dr Avinash and Chef Abha (Abhishek Bachchan and Nithya Menen), whose only child - a 6-year-old daughter is kidnapped. The kidnapper contacts them after nine long months and gives them the task of murdering, so far, two people with a special condition. The cause of their deaths should be anger and lust. Unwittingly, the couple gives into the kidnapper's demand and go on a path that is bound to end in destruction. Moreover, Inspector Kabir Sawant (Amit Sadh) is closing in on them.

What I really liked about the season one was that the characters were well fleshed out. Each of them had their own demons. Breathe 2 is no different. There are Avi and Abha, who are willing to go to any lengths to save their only daughter, there is Kabir, who has to deal with the ghosts of his past once again. There is also another character (Saiyami Kher) who barely had any screentime in the first four episodes but we know the reason for the stuff that she is doing.

The fact that there is a plausible back story to all these characters makes you feel invested in them even if you don't spend much time with them. Director Mayank Sharma hasn't wasted much time and comes straight to the point in the first few minutes of episode one itself. However, the show is more of a slow burner than a roller coaster ride as one would expect from these kinds of thrillers.

The show keeps you hooked from its first episode itself. However, there are quite a few loopholes in the narrative. The plot is not as smart or edge-of-the-seat as Abhishek Bachchan claimed in pre-release interviews. Going by the first four episodes, the pace of the series should've been a bit faster.

The background score works, the cinematography is good and I am glad the makers have not opted for the cliched Delhi shots. The is editing is also fine.

Coming to the performances, Abhishek Bachchan is phenomenal. He shows a range of emotions and nails it at the beginning itself. His outburst will hit you right in the feels.

The ever-dependable Amit Sadh displays new dimensions to his character. The character here is more subdued than it was in the previous season and his look of a gentle giant goes well with his characterisation.

Nithya Menen seemed a bit awkward initially but delivers a good performance in her second venture in the Hindi film industry. Hrishikesh Joshi is a riot.

Overall, Breathe - Into the Shadows' first four episodes promise to be a slow-burning ride that will satiate the thrill-seeker in you.

Web Series Name: Breathe - Into the Shadows
Rating: 3.5 stars

When Kareena Kapoor feared that Hrithik Roshan's marriage would be affected because of dating rumors

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has completed two decades in the film industry, has never shied away from answering questions that others might run away from. Be it rumours of fights with her co-stars or addressing link-up reports, the actress doesn't mince words when posed with tough questions concerning gossip mills of the film industry.

But while Kareena has worked with many leading actors, it was her screen presence with Hrithik Roshan that often became the talk of the town. In fact, Kareena was also set to make her acting debut opposite Hrithik in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai but things didn't work out as planned. The two actors have worked together in many films including Yaadein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Mujhse Dosti Karoge

While the duo's chemistry continues to be loved, years ago, there were rumours that the two were dating. Addressing the alleged link-up, Kareena, in an old interview, had said that she feared the affair rumours might impact the actor's marriage with Sussanne Khan. The couple, however, is now separated.

Kareena was quoted saying, "I was more bothered that his marriage would be affected. For me, it was a professional hazard. First it was Hrithik. Tomorrow it could be someone else. As long as I know the truth, I'm fine."

Further, the actress also revealed why the rumours irked her so much and said that she was shocked to see the "insinuation that I was willing to give up my career to run after him."

Cut to today, Kareena is happily married to Saif Ali Khan. The power couple of Bollywood tied the knot in 2012. The duo is now parents to the internet's favourite star kid, Taimur Ali Khan. As for Hrithik, the actor continues to co-parent his sons Hridhaan and Hrehaan with ex-wife, Sussanne Khan.

Farah Khan on choreographing Sushant Singh's last song in Dil Bechara

Choreographer Farah Khan has choreographed late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's last-ever song on the silver screen in his posthumous release Dil Bechara. The title track of the 2020 movie Dil Bechara featuring late actor Sushant will release soon. Widely regarded as one of the finest choreographers in the Hindi film industry, Farah has choreographed more than a hundred songs in over 80 Hindi films.

For the celebrated choreographer, it was the first time that she got a chance to work with Sushant in the 2020 release. At a time when the trailer of Sushant's much-anticipated movie Dil Bechara received an overwhelming response, Farah has opened up about the title track of the romantic drama which will record Sushant's last on-screen appearance as a lead actor.

Farah, who has won six Filmfare Awards for Best Choreography and a National Film Award, spoke at length about working with the late actor for the title track of the movie. Talking about the song, Farah explained how the one-shot song was completed in half a day by Sushant. The 55-year-old said that the song is particularly close to her because it was the first time she choreographed the late actor.

"We were friends for a long time but never worked together. I had also promised Mukesh Chhabra that when he makes his directorial debut I would do a song for him. I wanted the song to be done as a one-shot song because I knew Sushant would be able to do it perfectly because I remembered Sushant had once come to a reality dance show that I was judging as a celebrity guest and that's the only time the celebrity guest danced better than the contestants on that show," Farah said.

Farah recalled that Sushant wanted food from her house after wrapping up the shoot for the song in half a day.  The ace choreographer rewarded her with home food as the actor had ‘nailed’ the song ‘perfectly’."I see the song and all I can see is how alive, how happy he looks in it..and this song is always going to be very special for me,” she added.

Regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in the Hindi industry, Sushant was only 34 when the Bollywood actor died by suicide at his Bandra residence on June 14. Composed by the legendary AR Rahman, Dil Bechara's title track is the last ever song that has been picturized on Sushant. Directed by Mukesh Chhabra, the movie is scheduled for an OTT release on July 24.

Varun Dhawan turns saviour for background dancers, supports 200 dancers hit by corona crisis

The Hindi film industry has been hit really hard due to the coronavirus pandemic. While several shoots have been postponed indefinitely, the release of multiple films has been delayed too. The extras, as they are called in Bollywood parlance, are the worst affected lot as most of them are daily wage earners dependent on everyday shoots for their livelihood. The background dancers also belong to this lot.

Varun Dhawan has come to the rescue of 200 background dancers, says a recent report. According to the report, the actor has transferred money to the bank accounts of these dancers.

Raj Surani, a former background dancer, who currently works as a song co-ordinator, has been quoted saying by the website, “Varun Dhawan has helped the needy dancers. He has worked with a lot of them in three dance films. He was very concerned about how the dancers are managing their livelihood. He promised to help them and try and address their problems.”

He added that there were many dancers who were facing issues with their landlords over rent and that there were others who had ailing parents who needed medicine from time to time. He further said that though shootings had begun, there was time before dancers will go back to film sets.

Varun, it is worth mentioning, has been part of two full-fledged dance films – ABCD 2 (2015) and this year’s Street Dancer 3D. The actor will be seen next in father David Dhawan’s Coolie No. 1, an official remake of the 1995 cult comedy of the same name. The film was slotted for a May 1 release but got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.  It is rumoured that the film will now release on January 1, 2021.

Pooja Bhatt on Nepotism; slams trolls amid Nepotism debate

A day after Soni Razdan slammed a troll who called her husband and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt the 'flagbearer' of nepotism, actress Pooja Bhatt, too, has weighed in on the ongoing debate. The actress, in a series of tweets, called out trolls for targetting the Bhatts amid the nepotism debate.

In her first tweet, the actress said that she had been asked to comment on the 'hot topic'. "As someone who hails from a ‘family’ that has launched more new talent-actors,musicians & technicians, than the entire film industry combined I can only laugh. Facts don’t find takers. Fiction does," read a part of her tweet.

She further recalled the time when the Bhatts were 'accused of having something against established actors and made to feel inferior for only working with/launching newcomers' and said that the same people were now playing the nepotism card. She urged people to first fact check their tweets and then speak on social media.

In the following tweet, she cited Kangana Ranaut's example and said that even though she was 'discovered' by Anurag Basu, it was Vishesh Films that backed the film she was a part of. Her tweet read, "As for Kangana Ranaut- She is a great talent,if not she wouldn’t have been launched by Vishesh films in “Gangster”.Yes Anurag Basu discovered her,but Vishesh Films backed his vision & invested in the film. No small feat. Here’s wishing her the very best in all her endeavours."

She then stressed that even with Sadak 2, which recently came under the scanner after it was rated 98 percent ‘nepotistic’ by Nepometer, a brand new talent in the form of Sunil Jeet will be launched. Talking about Sunil, Pooja said that he was a Chandigarh-based music teacher, who came to their office with a dream, harmonium and a 'brilliant' song Ishq Kamaal and no prior appointment. She said that Mahesh Bhatt got him on board right after the first hearing.

Making a reference to the people who have previously worked with the Bhatts and are now targeting the family, Pooja, in her tweet said, "Toh yeh ‘Nepotism’ shabd se kissi aur Ko zalil karne ki koshish karo doston. The people who have found their way into the movies through the springboard we provided over the decades know what we stand for. And if they have forgotten,It’s their tragedy. Not ours.Have a great day!"

Deepika Padukone has reached one more milestone: third Indian to cross 50m mark on Instagram

One of the top actresses of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone, has added another feather to her hat. The actress has now become the third Indian after Virat Kohli and Priyanka Chopra to go past the 50-million followers mark on Instagram. DP, as she is fondly called by millions of her fans, achieved the big feat a couple of days ago. Her follower count on the photo and video-sharing platform currently stands at 50.2 million.

As compared to her peers, Deepika is far lesser active on Instagram. However, amid the lockdown, she posted quite frequently. While her posts featuring her husband and actor Ranveer Singh receive immense love from her fans, she also uses the platform to spread awareness on multiple issues concerning the society. After Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput’s shocking suicide, the actress has been talking about mental health.

Below, take a look at some of Deepika’s noteworthy posts:

On the film front, Deepika was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, wherein she played the role of real-life acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film had received decent reviews from film critics but failed to work its magic at the box office, ending up with a lifetime collection of about Rs 35 crore.

Deepika will be seen next in Kabir Khan’s 83, a sports drama based on India’s victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup against West Indies. She will be seen portraying the role of Romi Bhatia, the wife of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev. The film was slated to hit the screens on April 10 this year but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on Christmas 2020. Whether or not the film will manage to release as per schedule is something only time will tell.
