All this while, Mumbai Police have been conducting the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case by investigating everyone who was associated with the actor, both professionally as well as personally. As many as 40 people have been reportedly interrogated so far including filmmakers Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions CEO Apoorva Mehta, to see if there was any professional rivalry that drove Sushant to end his life. Rhea, who was Sushant's girlfriend, too was summoned by Mumbai Police and she recorded her statement last month. She had recently also taken to Instagram demanding a CBI inquiry in the case and expressed her sadness over Sushant's demise.

44 days after Sushant died by suicide (June 14), the case has now taken an all new turn with actor's father lodging an FIR against Rhea for abetment of suicide with Patna's Rajiv Nagar police, yesterday. Rhea and five other individuals including her father have been booked under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide), Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), Sec 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), Sec 380 (Theft in dwelling house), Sec 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and Sec 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).

Vikas Singh, Ex-Addl Solicitor General & lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father, has issued a statement revealing why it took so many days for the actor's family to file an FIR.  In his statement, the lawyer has alleged that Mumbai Police refused to file an FIR and were only 'forcing' Sushant's family to give names of big production houses.

"FIR registered now as family was in shock & Mumbai Police wasn't registering FIR, but forcing them to give names of big production houses & get them involved. It was heading in a different direction", said the lawyer as quoted by ANI.

Vinay Tiwari, Patna (Central) City SP too spoke to the press and shared an update on the latest development in the case. "FIR has been registered. Preliminary investigation has begun. It is not correct to say at this point of time that who will be questioned. All those who were named by Sushant Singh Rajput's father in the FIR, have been booked.

Bihar Police has reportedly reached Mumbai and will now investigate all the evidences collected by Mumbai Police so far. As per Times Now report, the Bihar Police is first expected to meet the DCP Crime Branch, the nodal wing of Mumbai Police, and then they are excpected to visit the other branch. The report also states that the four-member team will visit other places that might help them find evidence in the case. The team has reportedly met some of Sushant's friends.
