Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein starring R Madhavan and Dia Mirza sequel in making

R Madhavan was already a known actor thanks to his stint on TV and in Tamil films before he made his Hindi film debut with Gautham Vasudev Menon's Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. The movie also marked the debut of then-Miss Asia Pacific Dia Mirza and starred Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role. Popularly known as RHTDMRehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was a Hindi remake of Menon's own Tamil hit Minnale which also starred Madhavan in the lead role.

Upon its release, the movie failed to make a mark at the box office but over the years it has gained a cult following amongst the movie watching audience. Also, the songs of the film were all chartbusters be it the title track, Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana, Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua or Zara Zara, among others.

Both Madhavan and Dia often celebrate the anniversary of their cult classic and in fact in 2016 they also recreated the poster of the film. Not just that, for years now fans have been hoping to see the two reunite for a sequel and it looks like their prayers are heard. If a report in Mid Day is to be believed then a sequel to Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein has been green lit by the producers.

The source told the tabloid,

The makers toyed with some concepts, on and off, over the years. Only now have they found a script that has appealed to everyone and seems a natural progression to the lives of Maddy and Reena [the characters essayed by Madhavan and Mirza respectively]. The script is in the final stage of development.

Unlike the 2001 film which was about college rivalry and romance,  the sequel will reportedly be about their post-marriage struggles and how they try to get their love story back on track.

There was no response from producer Jackky Bhagnani when he was asked about the sequel.

Veteran actor Dalip Tahil opens up on Bollywood being targeted over Sushant's suicide

Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput passed away, there's a lot been said, assumed, speculated about the reason behind his suicide. While his official autopsy report claimed he died of asphyxia due to hanging by the ceiling, majority of the society is still in disbelief that the 34-year old actor would end his life just like that. Even if he was undergoing treatment for 'clinical depression', as reported by some portals, people are curious to know what forced him into depression. Speaking of which, Bollywood has now come at the receiving end with netizens suspecting its behaviour towards SSR, when he was alive. Prominent production houses like YRF, Dharma have been targeted for allegedly boycotting Sushant from their movies. Actors, filmmakers too are being called out on the internet for apparently treating Sushant like an 'outsider' despite his talent and successful streak.

The Bandra police station is currently investigating Sushant's suicide by interrogating everyone who was close to the actor; both professionally as well as personally.

Veteran actor Dalip Tahil, best known for working in films like Baazigar, Ishq, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mission Mangal, among many others, recently spoke to Times Now and shared his honest views on the heated debate over Bollywood's involvement in Sushant's suicide. He has been a part of the industry since the last 46 years and he feels that a 'boycott' can't work in an industry like Bollywood. Although he agrees film industry is not 'welcoming' enough but he feels that Sushant was a 'bankable actor' so his career issues couldn't have been the only prime reason that drove him to end his life. He thinks there are multiple factors involved and blaming the film industry alone is not right.

Excerpts from the interview.

"Look, I think, like I said when a young man and a successful young man takes his own life at the age of 34, I think it is for society to definitely raise the questions, to ask the questions and to try and understand as to why this would happen to a person so young and who's successful. However, I also don't agree with the fact that you should… that before the investigation is done and the clinical analysis has been done to perfectly understand this, that the narrative should start and the blame game begin on day one that the film industry is responsible for this. I'm not saying that… I don't know the facts now, it may be that the film industry in some way was responsible cause that was his career ground, but to say that it was completely responsible is a bit far-fetched. I think that it was an accumulation of several factors and one would definitely or possibly be his career. But to say that there's a mafia responsible who had boycotted him and who had sworn never to sign him on, you know, you have to be outside the film industry to talk like that. I mean if this is a negative sense, but the film industry is just not so coordinated, the film industry lives by, the mantra is the box office.

There is no way that a boycott on someone like Sushant Singh Rajput would ever survive because he was a bankable actor. That is the biggest mantra in the film industry. You might boycott someone like that once, two three people might say ‘I am not going to work with them for other reasons’, but there's no way he'd be out of a job. I'm telling you the struggle in this industry is to be bankable, is for producers to say ‘yaar iske sath picture bikti hai’. The biggest success barometer is that when you begin to become a saleable, bankable actor. So all this business about boycotting… there may have been certain differences with certain producers, contracts go haywire, things go upside down there are a lot of intangibles in the film industry I'm not saying that. There is a lot of everything in the film industry, but it is like a microcosm of the world we live in.

Of course, there are people who are doing all sorts of things because all sorts of people are attracted to the movies because there is glamour, there is money, there’s power and everything so it takes all kinds. But to think, like yesterday I am going back to this editor from this channel from some remote channel who was saying that you know, the industry is full of sin. Well, of course there is but I mean that people who are working also the people who are you making films and a lot of people are making very good films. So it's a big vast playing field."
